How it works

Art Bridges will:

  • Connect a group from a church congregation with a curated series of experiences in the visual and performing arts, and
  • Present educational and theological context designed to increase understanding and enjoyment, and to encourage life-long engagement with the arts.

The program is based on these beliefs about the value of the arts:

  • The arts provide opportunities for individuals to
    • engage the bodily senses God gave us to grow spiritually and emotionally,
    • experience imagination and wide-ranging emotions,
    • encounter new ideas in new ways,
    • empathize with other experiences so we can love our neighbors better and more;
  • The arts provide opportunities to form closer relationships with social groups;
  • The arts provide opportunities to serve our communities through investing time, presence, and money in events and experiences that have significant cultural, social, and economic impact.

We’ll provide:

  • Two program participant events with food, teaching, and discussion ;
  • Curation of three arts events (February, March, April) from visual art, music, dance, or theatre;
  • Logistics of ticket reservations and purchase;
  • Additional educational and theological content through email and website;
  • Partial subsidy of ticket passes for this pilot season;
  • Transportation between arts events and a free parking location.
